About the School
Vimala Hridaya G.H.S.S. provides an excellent academic environment for students. One thing that immediately stood out to me was the discipline and order maintained throughout the school.
Besides academics, the school actively encourages students to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities including:
Quiz competitions
Literary events
Arts and cultural programs
Sports and games
This holistic approach to education impressed me and showed how the school is committed to the all-round development of its students.
✨ My First Week Experience
Our first phase of teaching practice officially started on 15th July 2025 at Vimala Hridaya G.H.S.S., and it marks a very exciting beginning in our journey as future teachers. We, a group of nine student teachers from Karmela Rani Training College, stepped into this school full of enthusiasm and a spirit to learn and grow.
On the first day, we met the Deputy Headmistress, Mrs. Annie K. A., who warmly welcomed us and gave us all the necessary instructions regarding the school’s rules and expectations. Her kind and clear guidance helped us settle into the new environment with confidence.
🟧 Tuesday ( 15 July - Day 1)
I met the Mathematics teacher allotted to me, Mrs. Prameela Pious. She was very supportive and introduced me to the class I would be handling – Class 8F. On the first day, I kept it light and simply introduced myself to the students and interacted with them informally. This helped build a rapport with the class.
🟧 Wednesday ( 16 July - Day 2)
From the second day onwards, I started taking proper lessons using various teaching aids like PowerPoint presentations, activity cards, and other learning materials. The students of 8F were very interactive and enthusiastic learners, which made the classroom environment lively and engaging.
🟪 Thursday (17th July – Day 3):
I took my regular class in 8F. The students continued to be active and cooperative. I used engaging teaching aids like PPTs and activity cards to maintain interest in the topic.
🟥 Friday (18th July):
The school remained closed due to a statewide strike called by KSU and ABVP. Though it interrupted our academic flow, it reminded me of how external factors often influence the school calendar.
✨ My second week experience
🟨 Monday (21st July):
Even though I had no regular class on Monday, I was given a valuable opportunity to conduct a quiz competition organized by the Library Council of Kerala. I also helped in the evaluation of the quiz results. This gave me a glimpse into how schools encourage co-curricular excellence and how teachers play roles beyond the classroom.
🟥 Tuesday (22nd July):
The school was closed as a mark of respect following the death of former Chief Minister of Kerala, V. S. Achuthanandan. It was a day of mourning, and we paid tribute to a respected leader of the state.
🟩 Wednesday (23rd July):
I had my regular third-hour class in 8F. In addition, I was given substitution periods in 8A and 8I in the morning and a 10th standard class in the afternoon. Handling different classes in a single day helped me sharpen my classroom control and adapt my teaching style to various levels.
🟫 Thursday (24th July):
It was a holiday due to Karkidaka Vavu, an important observance in Kerala. The school remained closed.
🟦 Friday (25th July):
This was a lively and memorable day. I had a class during the 6th period, after which the School Day celebration began. From the 7th period onwards, students and teachers gathered on the school ground, enjoying cultural programs and joyful dancing. It was heartwarming to witness such a spirited celebration and to see the strong bond between staff and students.
🟨 Saturday (26th July):
Although it was a Saturday, it was a working day till 1 PM. I attended school as usual and engaged with students during free hours and substitution periods.
