Week 10
22/09/2025 (Monday)
As it was Monday, I had no scheduled class for the day. I utilized the entire time effectively to prepare lessons for my upcoming classes. I carefully reviewed the topics, organized activities, and planned examples and questions to make the lessons more interactive and engaging for the students.
The preparation allowed me to think through the teaching methods, anticipate students’ difficulties, and design activities that would help them understand the concepts more clearly. Although there were no special events in the school on that day, the time spent on planning was productive and meaningful.
The school day concluded at the usual time, 3:40 p.m.
Overall, it was a satisfying day. The planning work gave me confidence and ensured that I would be able to conduct my upcoming classes more effectively and interactively.
23/09/2025 (Tuesday)
I reached the school by 9 a.m. Today, my first scheduled class was during the fourth period in Class 8F, which was conducted under the guidance of my college tutor. The topic I taught was Multiple and parts from the chapter Solutions of Equations. During the lesson, I explained a total of three problems. Two of these problems were solved through group activities, where I divided the class into small groups to encourage discussion and active participation. This method helped the students collaborate, share ideas, and solve the problems more confidently.
To make the lesson more meaningful and engaging, I used a PowerPoint presentation to display the questions clearly and illustrate the steps. After the class, my tutor provided valuable feedback and suggestions for improvement, which I carefully noted for future lessons.
In the sixth period, I had another class in 8F, where I introduced the topic Algebraic Method. Later, during the last hour, I got a substitution class, which I utilized to teach additional practice problems. This gave the students extra opportunity to apply the concepts and reinforced their understanding.
There were no special events in the school today. After completing my scheduled duties and remaining responsibilities, I left the school by 3.15 p.m.
Overall, it was a productive and interactive day. The use of group activities and presentations enhanced students’ learning, and the feedback from my tutor provided useful guidance for improving my teaching strategies.
24/09/2025 (Wednesday)
I reached the school on time today and had two periods of teaching. During the second period, my optional teacher, Dr. Brinda Nair S., from my college, visited to observe my class. This was her second observation of mine. I taught the topic Algebraic Expressions from the chapter Solutions of Equations. To make the session effective, I introduced three problems and presented them visually using PowerPoint slides, while also working them out on the board for clarity.
The second problem was related to a calendar. To make the activity more interactive, I divided the class into small groups and distributed cuttings of calendars to each group. The students actively participated in solving the problem using these materials. After their group attempts, I wrote the solutions on the board to ensure clarity.
For the third problem, I encouraged self-learning. I distributed activity cards and asked the students to attempt the problem on their own. Finally, one of the students came forward and solved it on the board. I concluded the class by summarizing the key concepts discussed, ensuring that the students had a clear understanding. My teacher provided valuable suggestions for improvement, which I noted carefully for future lessons.
In the third period, I continued with Class 8F on the topic Algebraic Method. Again, I used PowerPoint presentations and activity cards to maintain the students’ interest and ensure active participation. The session was interactive, and I concluded it successfully.
There were no special events in the school on this day. Overall, the day ended positively, with productive teaching sessions and active student involvement. We left the school at the usual time.
Overall, it was a successful and engaging day. The students’ participation in group and individual activities reinforced their understanding, and the feedback from my teacher provided useful guidance for future improvement.
