Phase 2. Week 6
Day 25. Wednesday
The twenty-fifth day of the second phase of teaching practice was a productive one. I reached the school by 9 a.m. and had my teaching period during the third hour. On this day, I introduced a new chapter, Parallelogram, with focus on the topic Sides and Angles. The lesson was planned using the Concept Attainment Model.
To introduce the concept, I presented both positive and negative exemplars of parallelogram to the students. Various figures were shown to help them carefully observe and compare the properties of different shapes. Through active participation and discussion, the students analyzed the examples and were able to identify the concept of parallelogram on their own. This method encouraged logical thinking and deeper understanding of geometric properties. Follow-up activities were provided to reinforce the concept further. After the class, the day continued with regular academic work.
Day 26. Thursday
Today’s class focused on the problem lesson of the topic “Sides and Angles,” conducted as a complete drawing session. The lesson was problem-based and concentrated on drawing parallelograms, a topic that students usually find challenging. To make the concept clear, the first two problems were demonstrated on the board using geometrical instruments. After the demonstration, students were able to draw the figures correctly in their notebooks.
The remaining two problems were given as a group activity, where students worked collaboratively and successfully completed the drawings. The lesson generated interest among the students and helped improve their confidence in constructing parallelograms. Follow-up activities were given to reinforce learning. No special programmes were conducted in the school on this day.
