Phase 2 Week 1

 Day 2 - Tuesday

On the second day of my second phase of teaching practice, I was actively engaged in teaching sessions across different classes. I handled a class in 8F and also had regular as well as substitution periods in my practice class, 8F.

During the first hour, I got a substitution period in 8F, which I effectively utilized to introduce a new chapter, Circles. I explained the basic ideas and properties related to circles, helping students become familiar with the new concept.

In the fourth period, I taught the topic Diameter. The class was divided into groups, and two group activities were conducted to enhance conceptual understanding. A PowerPoint presentation was also used to support the explanation and make the class more engaging and interactive.

The sixth period focused on Problems on the Diameter, which involved a construction activity. Students actively participated in the construction process and showed keen interest throughout the session. Their involvement reflected a good understanding of the concept and enthusiasm for learning.

Day 3 Wednesday

On the third day of my second phase of teaching practice, I had a teaching hour during the third period in class 8F. The topic handled for the day was “Chords.”

The class was initiated by checking the previous knowledge of the students to ensure continuity in learning. Based on their responses, the topic was introduced and developed through group activities, which encouraged student participation and collaborative learning.

After the activity-based explanation, an application problem was discussed to help students apply the learned concepts and strengthen their understanding. The session concluded with a review of the key points, followed by a follow-up activity to reinforce learning.

Day 4 Thursday

On the fourth day of my teaching practice, I had a class during the second hour. I taught a construction-based lesson from Chords, focusing on finding the centre of a circle when it is unknown and when only an arc is given. The steps were clearly demonstrated on the blackboard using a compass and ruler. Students actively participated by drawing the constructions in their notebooks and showed great interest throughout the geometry lesson.

Day 5 Friday

On the fifth day of my teaching practice, I handled Standard 8 during the sixth period. The earlier part of the day was utilized for lesson preparation for upcoming classes.

During the class, I taught a problem-based topic that included two proving-type questions. The questions were first read and explained, after which the class was divided into groups and activity cards were distributed. Although students initially found the proving questions challenging, they participated actively and worked collaboratively to arrive at the conclusions. The session concluded with a discussion of the results, reinforcing their understanding.
