Phase 2 Week 3
Day 12 Monday
I did not have any regular teaching periods on this day, but I received a substitution period in the morning session for class 8F. During this period, I introduced a new chapter, Decimal Forms, and taught the topic Earlier Forms.
The lesson was initiated using a real-life example related to decimals and fractions, which helped students understand the practical significance of the concept. Students showed interest and participated actively in the discussion. There were no special programs conducted on this day, and the school closed at 4:00 p.m.
Day 13 Tuesday
I had teaching hours during the fourth and sixth periods in class 8F. In the fourth period, I introduced the topic Some Other Fractions, which focuses on converting fractions into decimal forms.
The sixth period was a continuation of the same lesson, during which students were guided through additional practice questions. A few students required extra support, and I provided individual clarification to help them understand the concept better. There were no special programs conducted at the school on this day.
Day 14 Wednesday
I reached the school on time and had a teaching hour during the third period in class 8F. I taught the topic New Forms from the chapter Decimal Forms through a group activity, which encouraged active participation.
Students raised their doubts during the discussion, and I clarified them effectively. An application-level problem was also solved on the board to strengthen their understanding. After the class, I utilized the remaining time to prepare lessons for upcoming sessions. There were no special programs conducted in the school on this day.
Day 15 Thursday
I had a teaching hour during the second period, and my tutor, Dr. Brinda Nair S, came to observe my teaching. I taught the topic New Forms from the chapter Decimal Forms through a problem-based lesson.
The lesson included two problems. The first problem had three subparts and was conducted as a group activity, in which students participated actively. The second problem was given as an individual activity, allowing students to work independently. After completing the tasks, I concluded the lesson with a review and recap questions, followed by a planned follow-up activity to reinforce learning.
After the class, the tutor provided valuable suggestions to improve the effectiveness of my teaching. There were no special programs conducted on this day, and the school dispersed at 3:40 p.m.
Day 16 Friday
The day was pleasant and productive, with a teaching hour during the sixth period. I taught the lesson New Forms from the unit Decimal Forms through a problem-based approach.
The lesson included two different types of problems, which were handled as a group activity. Students discussed the problems within their groups, shared ideas, and collaborated effectively to arrive at the correct solutions. The active interaction made the class engaging and meaningful.
There were no special programs or events conducted in the school on this day.
